Scandic Waskia

The location is good, and Tropiclandia next door is a great bonus, though unfortunately we couldn’t go. It’s fantastic how accommodating the hotel is towards children, with a nice play room, for example. The rooms are renovated, and the kids’ bunk beds are really handy. Unfortunately, the kids’ beds weren’t properly made, and there’s no adjustable air-conditioning, so the room gets just a tad too hot at night in the hottest Finnish summer.

The room was large, better than some Scandics, and breakfast was the usual good fare. It’s a great hotel in a lovely location, though I wouldn’t want to be there in summer season because of the theme park next door, which was closed in May. There was a slight drain odour in the bathroom that could put some people off. Dinner was good, but the waiter forgot my dessert. When we asked to have it taken off the bill, it suddenly appeared.

There are no phones in the rooms, so you have to go back and forth to reception if you need anything. The breakfast is alright. Hotel Waskia is a great place to stay if you want a serene location, though it’s some distance from the main city. In summer it should be walkable, but in winter I always use taxis to get around.

The hotel is a little outside the city, but the double room was a good size and nice. Breakfast was good, with a nice view.
