The island is tiny, but the clear turquoise water, white sand, tropical fish and nightly sunsets make it feel like a little slice of paradise. We could walk all the way around in about 10-15 minutes, and there were plenty of ways to spend the day, including kayaking, snorkeling trips and volleyball with guests and staff each evening. Kele, the diving instructor, was especially good at explaining the reefs and the marine life around the island. We spent four nights at Beachcomber Island Resort after seeing videos and reviews, and were really glad we came. Our Deluxe Oceanfront Bure was an unexpected upgrade right on the beach. It was spacious, the bathroom was clean, the bed was comfortable and room service was reliably friendly. We took the full-board option, and the meals were consistently tasty and well prepared. There isn't a huge range of dishes, which makes sense for a small, remote island. Getting there from port denarau cost quite a bit, but the boat was on time and well organized, and the captain was friendly and professional. We were welcomed with a warm “Bula” and a lovely song from the staff. Everyone was cheerful and welcoming throughout our stay. We'd happily return for another Fijian island getaway.

We had a great time and made the most of our stay. The water was so inviting that we swam around the island, and there was lots to see. Bring reef shoes. The included meals were a good choice for us. Breakfast had hot and cold buffet options, and although lunch and dinner came from the same standard menu each day, we enjoyed the selection. The staff were welcoming and always willing to help. I was initially a bit underwhelmed by the accommodation, but there's a 10 million dollar upgrade underway, so I think the place can reach its 4 star level once the work is complete. Just don't expect Australian service standards here. I'd come back.

Skip the resort's transport and book South seas catamaran for about the same price. The difference is astounding. Whichever boat you take, expect a wet transfer and wear suitable shoes. There's no dock on the island. The resort is pleasant, though basic, and management seems more focused on day trippers than people staying overnight. The rooms have been redone nicely, but the old flooring was left behind and is in pretty poor shape. Food was okay, nothing special. Also, the room safe isn't fixed to anything, so someone could take the whole thing.

Lasco made our trip. He was always smiling, checked in regularly, and helped us with whatever we needed. For my birthday he even arranged a small surprise, which was incredibly thoughtful. His kindness and attention made a real difference, and he's a credit to the island. My boyfriend and I loved our stay a few weeks ago. The beachfront apartment was beautiful, and waking up with the ocean right in front of us was perfect. Meals were fresh and full of flavour, with lots of choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Fijian food night was a highlight, especially getting to try traditional dishes and watch the dancing. It felt lively and special. Hiring equipment and booking day trips were both easy, and the massages were so relaxing. The amenities were great, too. We'd recommend the island without hesitation and can't wait to return, hopefully to see Lasco again.

It's easy to meet other travellers here, and the place has a real community feel. Beachcomber Island Resort is a lovely spot to unwind, get to know people and enjoy the natural surroundings. It's not a luxury resort, but that's part of the appeal. The island is small and easy to explore, with clear water and good swimming and snorkeling straight from the beach. Rooms are simple, clean and comfortable, and the relaxed style suited the island. Meals were good, with a straightforward mix of à la carte and buffet choices. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful without hovering. I had a wonderful time and would happily return.
