We’ve come back to Malolo Island Resort for a second family trip, and it’s still one of the best island resorts we’ve stayed at. The scenery, hospitality, staff and entertainment are all wonderful. Filli and simmy bring such a great vibe, and Atu, Manu, Tema, Sereana and plenty of others made us feel welcome every day. The band and singing were lovely too, and Margie’s day spa treatments were luxurious. We can’t wait to return.

We’ve now been to Malolo five times with our family, starting when the boys were 6-8 and continuing now that they’re 16-18. The staff are consistently friendly and provide first class service, especially Lyka, Atu and Mirry. The Kids Club team was great when our boys were younger. If you want fewer children around, avoid Australian or New Zealand school holidays. The singers are wonderful, with just the right music over dinner and drinks. We still miss “old Jim.” Our boys loved going out with him on the sailing boats and other outdoor water activities. He was the best activity host we’ve ever seen, and Malolo could use a new “Jim” for kids who aren’t in Kids Club. There’s great snorkeling from the beach, with a good variety of fish. The Fijian Lovo buffet was spectacular, so it’s worth staying when it’s on. We also had a fun, successful trolling trip. It’s expensive, but we loved it, and Captain Tom and Seva were great hosts. Leilani’s spa is another treat. My 90 minute massage was so relaxing I think I fell asleep, and I came out refreshed and energized. One little frustration: there doesn’t seem to be food available between breakfast ending at 9:30am and lunch starting at noon.

The resort is locally owned and run, and that came through in how much we enjoyed getting to know the staff and learning about Fijian culture. Many of them live in the island village and commute by boat. It’s nothing like a typical big chain hotel. We spent a wonderful week at Malolo Island Resort. The grounds are beautiful, and the location works well for boat day trips, including island hopping to Castaway Island or visiting Cloud 9 and Seventh Heaven. The food was great, mostly made with local ingredients. Malolo and its sister resort on the island even have their own vegetable garden. We’d recommend a Kava ceremony, and the resort also offers guided visits to island villages.

The pools for both children and adults were lovely, and there were plenty of included water activities right in front of us, from paddleboards and kayaks to snorkeling. The staff were all so friendly, and our meal package was fantastic. Our bures were comfortable, clean and gorgeous, with views to die for. My husband and I came with our daughter, her partner and our four-year-old granddaughter for seven nights at Malolo Island Resort. We had an amazing time, better than we expected. My only regret is not booking a longer stay. I can’t wait to go back.

We spent Christmas at Malolo with a big family group and had a wonderful time. The resort is beautiful, the activities were arranged seamlessly, and the staff were so kind and lovely. The food was INCREDIBLE. Vikesh went above and beyond, even making us traditional Danish rice pudding. Mirry, Atu and Ace were all incredible too.
