Mercure Nadi

The breakfast was spot on, but dinner was below average. We had to ask several times about our order and drinks. The burger looked promising, but the patties tasted like prawns and were so overcooked they were inedible. Staff were friendly, though lunch and dinner service definitely ran on Fijian time. The location was convenient, but Mercure Nadi didn't meet the service and facilities standard we've come to expect from Mercure hotels around the world. There are no lifts, so pack light or tip generously for the bell person, who helped us with a smile. The rooms were clean but extremely small, and the air conditioning wasn't as effective as it should be. The place felt very 1970s or 80s.

The best thing here is the location, right in the heart of Nadi with shops, restaurants, and transport close by. The staff were genuinely friendly, attentive, and ready to help. Breakfast was outstanding, with a great spread and fresh choices, and the resort grounds were lovely and peaceful for relaxing. The rooms were clean enough for a comfortable stay, but they're dated, and the amenities feel old and basic. They could use a full renovation. Even so, it was good value for money. If the rooms get updated, this could easily be one of Nadi's top affordable places to stay.

The food was delicious at breakfast and dinner, and sometimes lunch too. Our chef did a great job finding ways around our wheat and dairy intolerances and vegan diet, though I can't remember her name. The team was still building out its menu for food intolerances, and they welcomed feedback about future plans. They reassured us and helped us eat well without anyone getting sick. I hope they can offer more suitable options soon and get a steadier supply of intolerance-friendly staples. Semeli went out of his way to help us, and the Restaurant Manager, 'D' (everyone calls me D--it's easier!), helped with our dietary needs. Lea and the rest of the team served us with a smile and were so helpful. The staff's kindness and the clean, pleasant hotel made this a wonderful four-night stay. We also had an amazing massage on site. The prices were good, and the atmosphere was clean and relaxing. The ladies were welcoming and caring, and we really enjoyed it. The location worked well for sightseeing, and there's a tour coordinator at the hotel. The tours weren't quite what we wanted, so Semely arranged an affordable taxi tour instead, which let us do things our way. It was perfect for us. We'd highly recommend staying here.

The rooms aren't worth the prices shown online, and the area felt pretty rough. We waited four hours for towels, and the room had bathroom tiles but no plug points by the side table. The pizzas on the menu were basically a thick layer of cheese with maybe some vegetables hidden inside. It was disgusting, but we ate it because there wasn't another option. The staff at the bar seemed uninterested and were rude, with no smile even when we smiled and tried to chat. We sent the manager a long email, and all they said was that they'd look into it. The management and customer service were horrific. I'd only stay here for one night if I had no choice.
