Uprising Beach Resort

The sea was warm but pretty choppy, and it was windy while we were there. The gardens looked lovely, though there was quite a bit of litter around, including plastic cups, cans, and cigarette ends. The pool also needed attention: it felt a little slimy and had tissues, a plastic cup, and other unidentified things floating in it. We enjoyed the ika vaka lolo, which was tasty and reasonably priced. The resort is lovely and conveniently close to the port for cruise passengers. Staff were helpful, but seemed overwhelmed when a large group from a cruise ship arrived. The queues for drinks and food got long, and the WiFi by the bar seemed to struggle with the crowd too.

The resort is within walking distance of Pacific Harbour village, which made it easy to look around and find other places to eat or things to do. I got an upgrade, so the stay felt like good value for the reasonable price. The staff were very welcoming. John, the long-haired waiter, was especially kind and attentive. The food was very good, particularly the Torched Mountain Prawns and Prawn Curry, both full of flavor. Breakfast was quite basic, though, and they didn't keep replenishing it, so arriving late could mean missing out on some items. Some parts of the property are worn, old, or need cleaning and repairs. A bit of renovation would make a real difference. Even so, I had a very enjoyable stay for the price.

We stopped in for food and drinks at the newly renovated Uprising Resort in Deuba and were impressed by the update. It feels more modern while still keeping a relaxed island atmosphere. The bar menu had a good range of drinks and tasty bites, and Adi looked after us really well. Friendly and attentive, Adi also shared useful information about upcoming resort events. The beachfront views were lovely, and the pool and beach areas were in great condition. It was an easy place to relax with a cocktail. Fijian hospitality really came through, and we'd happily recommend a visit whether you're staying overnight or just dropping by.

Our beachside cottage had a lovely view, and we could hear the ocean waves. We stayed just one night before a morning shark diving trip and arrived after 8:30 pm. Reception couldn't find our booking straight away. Since the kitchen was about to close, we decided against dinner, but the receptionist kindly called the kitchen to let them know we had arrived. The room was rustic, and the shower was outside the suite. We waited until morning to use it. Pressure was low, but the water was nicely hot. The toilet and towels looked outdated and grey. Dinner was good: we had traditional-style fish and curry pasta, though some starters, including samosas, had run out. Breakfast was a basic Western buffet with instant packets instead of brewed coffee. There was onsite parking, but the biggest letdown was having no WiFi in the room.
