We arrived on three motorbikes and the owners moved furniture, brought out a plank, and invited us to ride through the front door and hallway into the secure back yard. At first I thought they were joking! The rooms had a typically French feel, were clean and comfortable, and had good hot showers. The hotel is close to the town centre and easy to reach from the motorway. I think there are only two or three rooms; we were the only guests. Abbeville looked like a wonderful old historic town to stop in. We were on our way to the Pyrenees and were so glad we stayed. Breakfast was lovely and fresh, with the owner walking into town early for bread and making nice coffee. If we need a stop on a southbound trip from Calais, we’ll come back. It’s roughly an hour and a half from the tunnel.

The owners really go out of their way to make the stay pleasant, and everything was perfect. I especially enjoyed the landscaped garden terrace and breakfast made with fresh local products. The decor, furniture, and bedding were all high quality. I look forward to coming back on a future business trip.

The hosts are delightful, and breakfast with linden honey was lovely. My room felt more like a small apartment, tastefully decorated and incredibly comfortable. The house dates from the 15th or 16th century and overlooks a street near the center of Abbeville, but it’s very quiet. I came by bicycle and was able to store it safely in the small inner garden. If the weather’s sunny, you can have breakfast out there too.

It’s a historic hotel, and our hosts gave us a really warm welcome. We had a very good breakfast, with suitable options for someone with gluten intolerance.
