Nakara (CAP201)

The heated pool was a nice feature, and the reception staff were friendly. The hotel looks modern and new from outside, and it’s fairly close to the beach. The rooms are a decent size, but the kitchen and room furnishings felt cheaply made. The reception could be made more welcoming. Right now it feels more like walking into a hospital than a hotel. There wasn’t a single electrical socket in the kitchen, so we had to leave the kettle and toaster on the TV room floor, which didn’t feel safe with a child around. And whoever put the toilet in a closet behind the living room TV deserves a design award 😎😉. Maybe that’s just Odaly’s business model.

We had a lovely time on our stay last year. The staff were kind and helpful, and our clean room overlooked the pool. The beach, restaurants and bars were all close enough to walk to. The room got very hot, though, and the fan didn’t help much at night. Still, it was a nice experience.

The apartment-style rooms are spacious, with big bathrooms. There’s a capsule coffee machine and a drip machine, though it had no filter paper, and there’s no French press. The hotel has a lovely heated pool that’s sheltered from the wind. It’s about 500m to the beach.

The rooms are spacious and the location is convenient, close to the beach, shops, attractions and restaurants. There’s a good-sized pool, a basic gym and a play area for kids. But the TV in both our suites faced at a right angle to the bed. To watch, you had to sit on a cushion stool. It clearly hadn’t been thought through. The WiFi was painfully slow and kept cutting out. Even WhatsApp messages took minutes to send, and moving five metres from the room meant reconnecting through the passcode page. In 2021, there was no excuse for this. It felt like they’d cut corners on a service guests really need.
