Camping Domaine De Chanteraine

We had a nice stay at this comfortable campsite. The pitches are good, the showers are comfortable, and the location is great. We don’t need much, so what was provided suited us well. If you want a quiet place to spend a week exploring the area, it’s a great option. Some campers blocked our pitch with a huge bus because they wanted to drive across our space to get to theirs instead of parking beside their own pitch. They were incredibly rude, and the owner had no choice but to send them away. They later posted false claims about campsite safety. The site is safe, with lots of room to drive around, plenty of parking, and a gate that needs an entry code.

The staff are very friendly, and the restaurant serves good food. There’s also a small shop with the basic groceries you might need. The grounds are spacious, and the showers and toilets are simple but clean. Before this, we spent a night at a crowded, noisy campground described as being next to the lake. This one isn’t much farther away. With a car, you can roll down the hill and park at a beautiful, quieter spot than many of the other lakeside campsites. All in all, I’d really recommend staying here.

The campground itself is okay, but loud music from the restaurant played every evening. It normally stops at midnight, but tonight it seemed to go on longer. We won’t be back. There was no respect for people trying to sleep. I went over to complain and found a private party with 10-year-old girls screaming. When I asked when it would end, they said, “one hour... it is holiday...” In other words, too bad for anyone trying to sleep at the campground. I went back a second time at 01:10, now agitated, and then they stopped the music and said it was over.

Even when the campsite was full, it still felt quiet and uncrowded, and it’s an easy walk from your pitch to the lake. I think it’s much better than the campgrounds right by the lake. The restaurant and pool are nice, while the showers and toilets are basic.
