Lunch was worth the wait at Michael’s family-run restaurant. We had drinks while they found us a table, then tucked into sublime tartiflette and salmon lasagne. Such a lovely place, with plenty of laughs along the way.

We really appreciated how flexible they were about storing our bikes and letting us check out later. We stayed four nights while several Tour de France stages were in the La Plagne area, and would happily return. The rooms are above the restaurant, where breakfast and other meals are served. It’s a family-run place with genuinely lovely people who seem to enjoy working together. Things can feel a little ad hoc, but that’s part of its charm. The location is handy for mountain passes, ski areas, and other outdoor activities.

The staff were great, but €35 for a small ready-made lasagne, garden salad, and crème brûlée felt too expensive.
