Garden & City Aix en Provence - Puyricard

I hope this helps, since the review showing for my stay isn’t the one I wrote. The hotel is in a nearby town, not Aix en Provence, and there’s no evening transport after 8 PM. Without a car, you’re left with Uber or a taxi, which costs nearly 30 euros. It’s still cheaper than staying in Aix, but less practical. There is a bus near the hotel that takes about 45 minutes to reach Aix’s central fountain. The staff are very nice, though the office closes quite early and there’s nobody to go to after that. I had no TV remote in my room during my three-day stay and was never given one. The pool was closed for repairs, which I only found out after arriving, but the room price was unchanged. I was told I’d get a discount, but I didn’t. The photo I posted shows the view from my room, and the sofa bed was comfortable. I had friends in a similar room in Aix who paid around 300€/night with breakfast, which is ridiculous. Breakfast with my room would have cost an extra 11€, so I just had coffee.

We rented two rooms, and the bathroom light in one of them didn’t work. The woman at the front desk tried to fix it, but couldn’t, so she changed our room without hesitation. We were happy with the service and enjoyed our stay. It’s fine for a short visit, though for a longer one I think the kitchen needs more tools.

Everything was awful. We booked expecting two balconies because we were bringing two dogs, but when we arrived we were told there weren’t any. We could see that some rooms did have balconies, so we asked at the office if we could get at least one for the dogs. They couldn’t arrange it, yet they charged us the rate for a room with a balcony and added a dog fee too. I think that was unfair. Don’t go there.

This felt more like a workers’ camp than a holiday place, and it was an awful experience. A very disturbed person two doors down in our block seemed to be drunk or high all the time. Late at night he shouted and cried loudly, and even smashed furniture in his room. We reported it at reception, hoping local security would handle it, but they said every room was booked and they couldn’t move us. He kept shouting, crying, and smashing things for the two days we were there. We didn’t sleep for either of those nights because we were afraid he’d smash our door or worse. Definitely avoid this place. I’ll complain to Expedia and ask for our money back, since this was one of my worst travel experiences.
