Hotel Escaletto

What disappointed me most was the concierge man’s indifference. He kept replying with a shrug of his shoulders. I have mobility difficulties, but neither he nor the woman there helped me with my trolley on the stairs. They also didn’t assist when road works blocked access and my navigator couldn’t find another way to the hotel. On arrival, I learned that the hotel has only three parking spaces, and they’re suitable only for very small cars. This limitation wasn’t clearly stated on the website, so I had to park downtown and take a taxi. My room was extremely small, with almost no space around the bed, no curtains and a view of garbage. For the price, the stay didn’t meet my expectations.

I loved being able to walk to everything I wanted to see, from the Musee Granet and Cours Mirabeau to the peaceful Pavillion du Vendome. The hotel is charming and conveniently located, with a clean, quiet room, welcoming and helpful staff, and a fabulous breakfast. I highly recommend it and hope to come back.

Aix is a lovely small town with great restaurants, pâtisserie stores and a Christmas market. This hotel made a comfortable base for exploring the town and nearby areas, and the many little shops were easy to browse on foot. It’s about an easy 5 to 10-minute walk to the City Center. The hotel was clean, well maintained and well managed, with warm, helpful staff. We didn’t eat breakfast there, so can’t comment on it, though the breakfast room looked spacious and comfortable. We’ll certainly come back.

Friendly, helpful staff and a good location for walking into the city centre. The room was a bit smaller than I expected, but it was clean and well maintained. A nice place to stay when visiting Aix-en-Provence.
