The sisters who run the place were very friendly and helpful. Pauline was on duty during our stay and her English was limited but good enough, while Valerie helped us when we arrived. The house is old and beautifully renovated, and the location was perfect, with a quiet, homey feel and a lovely garden. We enjoyed having a kitchen and living room, and brought food back to eat there for some meals. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh orange juice, tea, coffee, baguette, croissant, jam, granola or muesli, and really good homemade yogurt. It was all sweet or plain, though, so we picked up cheese nearby because we prefer a savory breakfast. Our room's double bed was up in the loft, reached by a steep, narrow staircase. That worked fine for us, but might not suit everyone. The bathroom was sparkling new. There's a laundromat two blocks away, and we could hang anything we didn't put in its dryer on the lines in the large sunny garden.

A lovely French breakfast and the smell of toasted bread were waiting for us the next morning. Le Jardin de Marie turned out to be a lovely surprise right in the middle of Aix-en-Provence. The house is gorgeous, Marie is so sweet, and the 16th-century dining room and beautiful garden have a bit of magic about them. Our room was small but comfortable, and we really didn't need anything more.

We really liked the location, and having breakfast in the garden felt magical. Much of it is homemade, including the jam, and the yogurt was very good. The owners are very friendly. There isn't parking because the streets are so narrow, and the rooms are split over two levels with stairs, which may not work for everyone.

The beautiful garden and spotless rooms made a great impression. Everything was well appointed and centrally located. Marie and Floriane are wonderful hostesses, and breakfast with them was a delight. We plan to come back.

Marie was so kind and helpful, and she knows the area really well. The apartment itself is marvelous and right in the center of Aix. If you visit Aix, which you definitely should, book this apartment!
