Le Mas D'Entremont

The restaurant in the courtyard was the highlight. After plenty of time in France, that was the best French meal I've had, and the food, wine, and whole dining experience were unbelievable. On our second night we just had wine and a cheeseboard, which was incredible too. We were there for two nights in September, during a very quiet spell, so it was wonderfully relaxing. The building and grounds are spectacular. Our room was tastefully decorated and very nice, with a private terrace overlooking the pool. The pool area was lovely. The gym is small, though we had it to ourselves, so it was fine. Gym enthusiasts might be disappointed. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone after a relaxing, traditional French stay with a semi-Chateau feel and excellent food.

The room design and outdoor areas are amazing, which makes the restaurant experience all the more disappointing. We had booked the hotel restaurant a month ahead, but on arrival found we'd been given a seat by the pool with only a snack menu. We asked to move to the main restaurant and were refused, even though there were lots of empty tables. They really need to be more flexible. We were left with poor-quality food, very limited choices, and waiters who wouldn't accommodate us. It's a pity, since the people working there can really change your experience.

We held a buffet-style birthday party for 30 people in lovely Provençal surroundings, and the staff and management did us proud. My wife and I loved the place. The rooms have a charming, cottage-like Provençal style rather than a modern look.

We stayed five nights in chambre 32, and the room was so beautiful. It had a modern, gorgeous bathroom with a shower, tub, two sinks, and plenty of hot water. They provided bathrobes and slippers, and the room was impeccably serviced every day. There was also a little table and lounge chairs on a patio surrounded by flowers and trees, lovely for breakfast or a glass of wine. The grounds are gorgeous, with a fountain, loads of flowers, tennis courts, a huge pool, and pétanque. It felt like being out in the countryside, though the rustic hotel and restaurant are only a few minutes north of Aix-en-Provence. We loved the pool and had two fantastic meals at the restaurant. We learned the property has been run by the same family for generations. One of the owners, Pierre, rescued our plans when our wine tour fell through at the very last second. He found us another at the last minute, and it was perfect. The women at reception, (Aabia sp?) and another young woman, were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant servers made us feel at home despite our broken French, helping us order and choose wine. Hope we can come back soon.
