The old French character comes through in the classic, no-frills finishes and that winding staircase up to the rooms. Our room had a comfortable bed, TV, mini-fridge, desk, and little balcony. It was simple and comfortable, though the shower was quite small and could be a problem for a larger person. It still worked, though. The hotel has a lovely rustic feel and an ideal location. It’s under new ownership, and we got a very pleasant welcome. The owners didn’t know the area very well yet, but they were keen to help however they could. We felt comfortable and at ease there. Nothing fancy, just real, practical, classic details.

The rooms are spacious and cozy, the staff are friendly, and breakfast was really nice. The location is great, right in the city center and close to the baths. Sometimes booking.com has a great deal, so you can get a room for a very good price. I can only recommend this place.

The location is great, but a few things made the stay less comfortable. There’s no good way to air out the small rooms, which heat up easily. Opening the balcony door lets in the street noise. The only reception is by phone, which is a pain. The ringtone is obnoxious, and I could hear it from the first floor. It seemed to go unanswered all the time, which made it even more annoying. And the shower is ridiculous, just a hose with a nozzle and nowhere to rest it. You have to hold it like you’re washing a dog, ahahaha.

Restaurants and bars are right on the street or just around the corner, and the main station and other public transport are only a few minutes away on foot. You can get to the lake by bus or walk there. It’s a lovely place right in the heart of Aix-Les-Bains, great for a weekend trip. I warmly recommend it, really good value for the money.
