Les Loges du Park – résidence hôtelière

We missed breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. The family room was clean, well equipped, and really spacious. It’s an apart-hotel, so expectations should match that, but I think it deserves better than its 3.8 Google rating, which is why I’m giving it five stars. The location is handy, with a spa next door and the center and train station about a 5-minute walk away. Parking was reasonably priced, and it was good value for money.

I had a serious problem with their Booking.com account. It had been hacked, and I was charged twice. For four weeks, I got at least four messages urging me to pay again or my booking would be cancelled. I eventually had to cancel my credit card and deal with a long process at the bank. Even on the day I stayed, scam messages were still coming from their account. Four weeks was plenty of time for a serious business to sort this out. This is NOT OK. The reception team was very nice, and the room was okay for the price, especially given the nice location. The dining room manager, though, was very rude. Everyone else was polite, but she spoke down to customers, and I don’t know why she thought that was acceptable.

I’d give this place minus 100 if I could. Never book here or at Golden Tulip. It’s dangerous. During our stay the fire alarm went off, the power failed, and everyone ran out of the dark building. My family was frightened, and the corridor smelled of burning rubber. There was no one at the front desk after 20.00, so we went to the sister hotel, Golden Tulip, using the contact details they had given us in advance. We didn’t dare stay another night and asked for a refund. We had checked in at 19:00 and checked out at 21:00. After making us wait over an hour because the supervisor wasn’t there, the front desk said there’d be no refund and told us to come back the next day. They also misled us about what had caused the alarm. We spent 250 euros that day to move to another hotel. When we returned the following afternoon, we got the same answer: no refund, supervisor unavailable. They said not to worry, the charge wouldn’t be taken because we’d booked through agoda, and asked us to wait patiently. We carried on with our trip expecting them to resolve it, but the amount was deducted one week later. Agoda told us the hotel hadn’t responded, so the charge couldn’t be cancelled. After more complaints, we were told the hotel could refund only about 15 euros because we’d chosen to check out, and that the alarm hadn’t affected our stay. Very good, very good. I’ll remember this hotel and never come back.

Two days and two rooms cost 958 euro. A few days before arrival, they blocked 451 euro on my card, then charged another 507 euro to the same account once we got there. Even nine days after checkout, the 451 euro was still blocked. Unbelievable! Stay away from Loges du Park. It’s shady, with vintage furniture, and wasn’t very clean. Parking costs 13 euro, and breakfast is charged separately and isn’t anything special. Don’t make my huge mistake, there are much better and cheaper choices in Aix-le-Bains.
