Zenao Aix Les Bains

The apartment was spacious and well equipped, with a TV and a balcony furnished with a table and chairs. We could get around the nearby city center without a car. But we had to keep asking for toilet paper. The first roll was very thin recycled paper, and after it ran out the next day, we had to go back for another. Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. It cost €13 per person, €26 for two, and was served in the room, with the last serving at 9:15 am. We were offered tea or coffee and a choice of two slices of brioche, two rolls, or two rusks, plus a small pat of butter for each, a tiny piece of jam, barely a teaspoonful, and fruit juice. Reception had said a croissant was automatically included. They did knock right on time, but there were no croissants, no butter, and no milk, even though I’d asked for some. We went downstairs to ask for the missing items, and by the time they arrived, the coffee was cold. There wasn’t a microwave to warm it up. Next time, we’ll stay in a hotel instead of an apartment hotel.

The room still had very wet floors when we arrived. The pillows and duvet smelled strongly of mildew, and the power went out during our stay. I guess you can’t run two appliances at the same time. Breakfast was another problem. The desk sign said €6.10 per person as of May 2024, and the woman checking us in pointed to it when I asked the price and confirmed that amount. At checkout, a different receptionist charged €20 for two people, saying the rate had gone up to €10 per person in June. They wouldn’t honor the displayed price, even though the sign was still up and I’d been given that price at check-in. He pointed to some chicken scratch handwriting I’d never seen, supposedly saying breakfast for our reservation was €20. The place feels sketchy and uses bait-and-switch tactics.

Our two dogs were happy here too, since the place is dog-friendly. The staff were welcoming and really friendly, and the studio was clean with very comfortable bedding. It had a small balcony overlooking the studio, plus a kitchen and all the equipment needed for a good stay. Breakfast could be brought to the room on request. We had a great stay at the Appart's Hotel in Aix-les-Bains and highly recommend it.

The receptionist was so helpful and friendly, really exceptional. The apartment was lovely, functional, and nicely laid out, with a beautiful terrace and a spacious, well-appointed bathroom. Great location too. I’d definitely stay again, everything was perfect.
