Paese di Lava

We only meant to spend 2 nights here during our 14 day motorbike trip, after changing plans to find some quiet by the beach. This beautiful, peaceful spot 15km from Ajaccio worked out so well that we’d come back and stay longer. The beach is really great and just a 10 minute walk away. Our room wasn’t new, but it was very useful, with a comfortable bed, a large terrace, and a great little kitchenette with a fridge. We could book breakfast or dinner at night, get pizza or drinks and cocktails, or bring our own things. There was a disco show at the main building, but we couldn’t hear it in our room. The young receptionist was really kind, explained the surroundings well in perfect English, and even tried to find us a way to Ajaccio. I jokingly asked my wife to take her home with us, but she declined.

The view from the location was great, but it’s a 20 minute walk to the beach. The WiFi didn’t feel secure, check-in was late, and the service was mediocre. There’s no air-conditioning in the room, and it needs a bug zapper or at least mosquito nets. I’d look farther north, closer to the beach.

A really laid back holiday, and the staff were very friendly. I loved every minute. The pool was superb, with loads of sunbeds, and the beach was good too. Great views of the mountains and beach.

The view was beautiful, but that was the only good thing about the restaurant at Paese di Lava. We had lunch there and were really disappointed by the service and food quality for the price.
