Hotel La Rua

We were happy to come back to La Rua after staying there a few years ago. The rooms are thoughtfully laid out, so even four people can each have their own space. It has a welcoming, family-friendly feel, with a shared games room and a cozy place to sit by the fire. The restaurant welcomes everyone, too. We highly recommend it.

The mood here felt strange. Our first welcome was cold, though things got friendlier later, especially with the young man at the bar. The location is good and parking right outside is handy, but the snow was uncleared or cleared very badly, which made things less convenient. There were four dogs wandering through the restaurant and begging at the table. The room was dated, and the place was pretty mediocre, though at that price you can’t expect too much. Fine for one night.

The location is great, close to the slopes, and there’s private parking. We had one renovated room and one that hadn’t been updated. The renovated room was okay for the price, but noise came through the walls. The other room felt like stepping back in time. The restaurant was okay, too. Breakfast was very basic and far too expensive for what it offered. Nothing hot, and food wasn’t replenished. The stay was good overall, but the place really needs a deep clean.

We slept really well. The bed was very comfortable, and our pretty, cozy room had a magnificent view. The welcome was pleasant, too. A great hotel.
