The bedding was comfortable and it was quiet, but the grounds looked neglected. Cleaning was sloppy, the bathroom mirror was too high, and only one of its five bulbs worked. The advertised TV wasn’t connected. There were too many extension cords among other electrical issues, a dog was running loose, and reception was hard to find. When we arrived, the staff seemed to run away. The price doesn’t match the service. If you can stay somewhere else, do.

The place has potential, and the setting is lovely, but this romantic getaway left us disappointed. For the room price, the service was very poor. There was no welcome when we arrived and we were lost; at breakfast there was nobody except the housekeeper. The room needed a better clean: the outdoor tablecloth was dirty, and the extra pillow had a dirty, already-used case. Corners hadn’t been checked, either. The bed creaked, and the room got so hot at night that we had to leave a window open to breathe. There was no air conditioning or fan, especially disappointing in this region.

At breakfast the next morning, it was the same long table again, with just two people eating at it. We had to settle the bill with the cleaning lady. After asking around, we found out the host runs a factory nearby. To us, it seems you have to choose between running a B&B and managing a factory. We picked a B&B for the personal touch, and even a hotel gives a better welcome. They won’t see us again. Avoid this place. We booked this “B&B” as a stop on our drive from Belgium to the south. When we arrived, neither host was there. We stood outside a locked door with a note listing their phone numbers. We called, and the host guided us to our room over the phone. We’d never experienced that before. The hosts can be away sometimes, of course, but they weren’t there at dinner or the following day either. So the “great welcome” mentioned in the reviews is a big question mark for us. Dinner was six people seated at one long table with 40 chairs, cozy indeed :-(. It felt like no one was paying attention to the guests.

The location is magnificent and has huge potential, which makes the state of the place all the more disappointing. It looked nothing like the photos on Booking.com or the website: the pool was dirty, the sun loungers were broken, hoses were scattered around, and everything seemed badly neglected. The rooms were in the same condition. Breakfast was just a few industrial pastries or crepes and two sad pieces of fruit. Despite the advertising, there was no communal dining option on site. Guests were left to fend for themselves during the day, with only the cleaner around, who also made breakfast. The bar was left open for guests to use, and it was up to them whether to keep track of what they drank. The price is completely unjustified for what’s offered. It feels like highway robbery!
