Getting help at a pharmacy after we left made us even more grateful to Alison. She helped us with translation when we called, and throughout our stay she cared about our safety and comfort in a way you don't often find outside your own family. Alison is a caring mother, proud grandma, business woman, artist, classically trained chef and former medical professional, all in one magical lady. We were lucky to get to know her as a person. We came to France to celebrate my 60th birthday, and Alison made us a wonderful dinner. That gave my wife and me the chance to spend more time talking with her. Breakfast was first rate too, especially the homemade baked goods. Our room was impeccably clean with modern bathroom amenities, and the home was nicely decorated. From the moment we entered Alison’s Le 31, her warm welcome made us feel at home. It was easy to reach free local parking just steps from the inn. Shops and restaurants are an easy stroll away in the center of Amboise, and we walked to the Chateau d’Amboise, the Caves Ambacia Winery and other sites. We like staying at local B&Bs when we travel, both to support small businesses and because we enjoy meeting guests from around the world and innkeepers with their own stories. After two days at Le 31, we left thinking of it as a magical B&B in a magical town with a magical lady of the house.

Alison creates such a warm, friendly atmosphere, and she's an amazing host. The home itself was beautiful and had all the comforts we look for. Dinner with her and some other guests was delicious, and breakfast was just as good, with Alison’s gorgeous homemade pastries, bread and savory items. Thank you to Alison and Pete for having us, and to the people we met from the USA for the great conversations. Alison, we WILL be back!

We asked Alison to prepare dinner one evening, and it was one of the best meals we had in France. The breakfasts were wonderful too, with fresh bread, croissants, pastries, fruit and cheeses, all made or put together by Alison, who is a formally trained chef. We really enjoyed our two nights at Le 31. Our quiet, comfortable room had everything we needed, and Alison was a great hostess with lots of information about the area and places to see. Highly recommend!

Dinner on the night we arrived was incredible, with lots of local specialties. Our hostess Alison is an accomplished chef, and breakfast was plentiful with plenty of local food too. She was also in touch several times before we arrived and offered very helpful suggestions for places to visit around Amboise. Le 31 was impeccably clean and classically decorated, with all the modern bathroom necessities. Many of the town's sites are only a short walk away. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it as a great place to stay in Amboise.

The rooms are lovely, spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortable and well kept. The pillows were the best we've had so far on the trip, and breakfast was delicious. As other reviews say, Allison is a wonderful hostess and very helpful. It can be a little tricky to find the place, so just follow the street numbers.
