Hôtel Spa Marotte Hotel

The young woman who welcomed us couldn't have been more helpful, and the location is very good, five minutes from the cathedral and ten from le Quai. The rooms are well designed and maintained in a lovely old town-centre building. The garage is a few hundred metres away in the next block, but secure and very easy to use. Breakfast wasn't the best, but this is still a great choice for anyone visiting Amiens by car.

We couldn't use the service we'd signed up and paid for, yet the hotel staff refused to issue an invoice for it. The attitude throughout was hostile and outrageous, with no basic service from a business that claims to provide hospitality. The receptionist also refused to help us check in after we called a couple of times to find a solution for arriving past check-in time. Apparently guests are stranded after 9PM. Then our calls started being hung up on us. The most horrendous, shocking service I've ever had from a supposed four-star hotel.

Room 37 was a perfect fit for us. We're seniors and stayed four nights in mid July in the adjacent building, which also houses the spa. It was on the second floor American, modern and roomy, with an elevator. The space was quiet and comfortable, with sitting areas in both the bedroom and the spacious sunny bathroom. A wall behind the head of the bed separates the dressing area and bathroom from the bed and TV area, giving lots of privacy. The bathroom had a massive, sparkling modern tub and a separate walk-in shower with good pressure in the rain shower. Two great French windows in the bedroom and a matching one in the bath brought in loads of natural light and fresh air. From all the windows we had a pleasant view of the courtyard below, where the restaurant area was. The restaurant only served breakfast during our stay, so the courtyard stayed quiet. We even had a light picnic at one of its tables one evening, very convenient. The hotel was spotless, as other reviewers have said. Air conditioning worked well. It's an easy walk from the SNCF gare to the cathedral and other central Amiens sights. We highly recommend Hotel Marotte. My wife was very pleased that my trip planning included this memorable hotel.

The rooms are beautiful, but the spa had serious hygiene problems. Black mold covered the entire hamman. The owners and staff said this was completely normal between the morning and evening cleaning routines, but my wife and I have never seen a spa this dirty. At this price, it's very disappointing.
