Campanile Montargis - Amily

I’ve been a loyal Campanile customer for over 30 years, and all I expect is a clean, safe room with parking. A restaurant serving until 9 pm is standard too. I’ve seen everything from excellent franchisees with great buffets and homemade specials to places doing an acceptable steak and fries. The Amilly Campanile has probably lost me. What a shame. After a full day of travel, we arrived to be shown the evening menu and told we had to order right away if we wanted anything. They also said there was a good restaurant nearby, but it required driving. We paused to consider our options because the menu wasn’t appealing. Then we found the room grubby. The toilet had been used and left unflushed, and when I flushed it, the water nearly overflowed. A shower towel was on the floor, and a dirty one was hanging over the shower. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guest. We went back to reception for a solution, heard muttering that the cleaner had called in sick, and asked for a refund. The worst Campanile is in Amilly. Avoid it.

Yasmin and Alicia were especially warm and cheerful, serving us with smiles in the bar and restaurant. The rest of the staff were welcoming too, and made our stay a pleasure. We had three nights at Hôtel Campanile while visiting Cepoy, after choosing from three hotels, and were glad we picked it. The rooms were clean, tidy and refreshed daily. It’s fairly quiet despite a motorway nearby. There’s plenty of parking and free WiFi, and it’s close to shops and food vendors. Good value, and better than some nearby four-star hotels. I’d recommend staying here.

We come back once a year and find a welcoming crew, a clean room, and a good bed and bath. No noise and no trouble. We’ll check in again next year. One small thing about the cappuccino: it should be coffee with foamed milk, sometimes a little chocolate powder on top. Yours has way too much chocolate. Where’s the coffee?

I met friends here and we had dinner at the hotel. The meal was excellent, and the staff were friendly, organised and clearly busy. The young women at reception were helpful with every question. You can tell they have the guests’ interests at heart.
