Les 2 Caleches

The spa area and its massage beds were a lovely extra. The place is beautiful, comfortable, and very well located, with really high-quality bedding. We had a pleasant stay and I'd recommend it.

This is about Amélie's booking process, not the gîte itself, which I believe is excellent. We never got to stay there because of an owner's mistake. I called for information and asked to reserve two nights for a weekend. Since the gîte holds 14 people and getting friends together from different places takes a lot of organizing, I asked to hear quickly if there was any issue. Amélie emailed me the contracts, and I sent them back the next day. I then arranged the weekend, including everyone's arrival, payments, and who would bring food. When I called to check on the reservation and the deposit check I'd mailed, she said she hadn't received it. She hadn't let me know there was a problem, and had booked another group instead. For a week she said she'd ask whether they could move their weekend, then finally told me she was sorry but couldn't help us. I had to redo all my plans because Amélie never called to check whether I'd sent the contract. The way things work at this guesthouse seems to be first come, first served, regardless of contact with the owner. I'm very disappointed with how unprofessionally it was handled.

Everything is set up to make you feel at home, and it's a great place to relax. The one drawback is that the bedding isn't suited to couples.

We stayed at Les 2 Calèches from February 6th to 13th, 2016, as a family of 14, and we'll be back. The house was beautiful and well cared for, with lovely bedrooms and bathrooms, tasteful understated decor, and a kitchen and spa that were very well equipped. The bedding was excellent, and everything seemed arranged for guests' comfort. We also got a warm, discreet welcome, and the contracts were clear and caused no problems.
