Cycling through France and looking for somewhere to stay in Anduze? I’d highly recommend this place. The food and location were great, and the owner was a pleasure to be around. He loves bikes, has a great English sense of humour, and speaks first-class English.

The room was very pretty, with a nice view, and the pool was clean and refreshing. The hotel has a certain grandeur that made for a nice experience. But the plastified notes all over the room and by the pool, spelling out what we could and couldn’t do, made us feel unwelcome and nervous. There were fines for early or late check-in and for towels used on coloured hair or makeup. Pool towels weren’t allowed, and neither was moving the pool chairs, among other rules. It’s a shame. I think people can behave like grown-ups without all these rules and feel more at ease.

We had a beautiful room with a peaceful terrace, and the meal was just as delicious. They even offered us an aperitif. For our wedding anniversary, we were delighted to find two towel swans arranged in a heart on the bed. Breakfast was plentiful and had lots of choice. The owners were so kind, and we enjoyed chatting with them. A huge thank you for a wonderful weekend. We’ll definitely return to this hotel in its magnificent setting.
