The location made it easy for us to get around, with the train and tram station nearby and plenty of places to eat within walking distance. We spent three nights there in mid October and would happily stay again. The rooms were clean and nicely equipped, breakfast was excellent, and the staff were friendly. Angers has a lot to see, and the Grand Hôtel de la Gare Angers was a great base for exploring the city. Merci!

Right in the centre of town, with a very good breakfast. The hotel is nicely equipped, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

It was quiet and comfortable, a nice spot to relax after a long day of work. I also had a surprisingly good view from my room, and room service was prompt and courteous. The breakfast got repetitive after the first day, as there wasn’t much variety. The room key was unusually heavy and inconvenient to carry around.

The location is great and the staff are friendly, but the heat made our two-night stay in the family room miserable. With no air conditioning or fan, we couldn’t sleep, and when we asked for a portable fan, we were told there weren’t any. The hallways were extremely hot too, with no air moving through them. It gets hot in France every summer, so this three-star hotel should be better prepared to make guests more comfortable. It’s not a cheap hotel either, and I wouldn’t stay here again.

My room on the 5th floor had a great view of the fountain when it was running in the good weather. The room was small but very clean, and well insulated, so I heard no noise. The reception staff were friendly and check-in went smoothly. One minor hassle: the doors open from both sides and can only be locked with the key. A good choice for a short stay, especially with the train station right nearby.
