Le Petit Quernon

We loved exploring Angers by bike, and it was easy to do with the bikes available here. The quiet neighborhood is handy for the center, the university and Terra Botanica, with the Maine riverbanks and local heritage close by too. Le Petit Quernon is a welcoming family home in a charming, typical Angevin house. Chantal was kind and helpful, always happy to suggest walks and places to see. Breakfast was generous and thoughtfully prepared, and the bright, well-equipped kitchen opens onto a lovely little flower garden. A warm, authentic place that made our stay feel like part of the Angers experience.

Paying €70 a night felt far too expensive for this stay. There was nowhere to park on the street or nearby, so we left the car at the station, over 1 km away, for more than €8 per night. The old house may have some charm, but it hasn't been renovated, and the drawbacks were hard to ignore. Noise carried everywhere, from footsteps on the stairs and parquet to conversations next door. The rooms face a very busy street with fast traffic at all hours, and the double glazing did little to block it. The bathroom was cramped and badly in need of an update. Cleaning also wasn't up to scratch: dust in the room, untidy common areas and a shared kitchen whose hygiene seemed questionable. Breakfast was mediocre, and the owner was absent. We left very disappointed.

Breakfast in the garden was a treat, with generous portions and good-quality food. The B&B is near the center, and bikes are available to rent. Chantal and her partner are warm people who enjoy sharing and conversation. A place worth remembering.

The room was well kept, and we received a warm welcome. It had the feel of a bed and breakfast where you might meet other people along the way. Thank you. One thing that would be useful to know beforehand: the bathroom is shared.
