Golf de Chiberta

Frustrating that they didn’t tell me when they accepted my booking over the phone. I’m American with a 20 handicap, and they wouldn’t let me play because foreigners need to be registered and have played tournaments in France for an index of 36 or lower. I wasted the whole day getting there and couldn’t play. Tourists and foreigners, don’t waste your time!

The club had our email addresses and could easily have warned everyone the day before that roads around the course would be closed for a sporting event. Instead, we parked a kilometer from the clubhouse and walked all the way with our bags. A trip that should have taken 15 minutes became an hour and a half, and we arrived five minutes before our tee time with no chance to hit balls or test the greens. The Pro Shop wasn’t receptive to complaints, either. This course doesn’t seem to care about the player experience. One other thing, tourists without French Golf Association membership pay a higher green fee.

I stopped by to have a look at the course. From what I could see near the clubhouse, the course and practice ground both look fantastic. I’ll try to play it next time I’m in the area.

I only used the practice area. It’s nice training in front of the lake. They lend clubs in exchange for an ID card.
