Les Terrasses d'Atlantal

Oliver was so welcoming and always made us feel at home. We had one of our best stays in France at Les Terraces d’Athlantal this year. They kindly arranged a car to pick us up at the train station, and the hotel is right on a beautiful beach. The rooms were comfortable, and breakfast was copious and delicious. They also partner with a wonderful company offering guided tours of the Basque region. We learned so much from those tours. Thanks to the hotel for such a lovely stay in France 🇫🇷❤️

Everything else was great, but the waitress with blonde hair at the restaurant ruined our experience. We’d been told the restaurant was open until 9 pm, yet when we arrived at 8:50 pm, she greeted us like a cloud of ice. Asking for a cocktail seemed to annoy her. She gave us a perfunctory “yes,” then brought the appetizer when we’d barely started our drinks. When we ordered wine with the cheese, that was too much as well. By then there was no politeness and certainly no smile, and she hadn’t even offered us the wine list for the meal. At 9:30 pm, while we’d barely begun dessert, she turned off the music. We were the last ones there, admittedly, but we were still there. We felt so embarrassed that we didn’t spend another penny at the hotel, and had all our other meals and breakfast elsewhere. We can’t afford a hotel like this every other day, and the waitress spoiled the experience. Thanks a lot, ma’am. If you don’t like working late, you shouldn’t work in the restaurant business.

The room was comfortable and well equipped, and the free swimming pool was a real plus for relaxing. It’s a quiet, pleasant hotel, perfectly placed near the sea. My only small quibble is that the balcony was a little too small for my taste.

The staff were lovely and very welcoming, and the hotel itself was cozy, modern, and clean. Rooms were functional, spacious, and very clean. Breakfast was delicious, with high-quality products. The thalassotherapy center is complete and has all the amenities. The location is perfect, just steps from the beach. I really have nothing to complain about, and the value for money is excellent. I’d be happy to come back.
