Hôtel des Arts

The ground floor suite had plenty of room, with a king size bed, a large luxurious shower room, and a private patio shaded by a fig tree and a pear tree. Everything felt intimate and thoughtfully designed, with a lovely Art Deco look balanced by modern comfort. Hôtel des Arts is right in the center of Angoulême, and the whole place is beautifully done. Our late arrival was unexpected, but the friendly staff handled it expertly. Breakfast in the morning looked beautiful, tasted great, and had something for everyone, including locally sourced products. I was especially glad to find a fitness center in a boutique hotel. It's small, but has lots of functionality, including an ergometer, other cardio machines, and a cable set, so I could keep up with my regular workout. A lovely stay for anyone who appreciates design and boutique luxury.

Breakfast could have had fresh fruit. Otherwise, the hotel was quiet, the bed very comfortable, and our room had been renovated with taste and decorated really nicely. The common areas are attractive too. It's well placed in the city, and the parking lot gives you direct access.

The kind, helpful staff left us with fond memories, and we'd happily stay here again if we're back in the area. Breakfast was a letdown, though: crispy bread that didn't taste fresh, processed fruit juice and no fresh fruit, plus very salty ham. We had a pleasant, quiet room looking onto the parking lot, but we were the only guests that night. The location is ideal, just steps from the city center, and private parking was a real plus.

We had breakfast with a lovely view of the nearby church of Notre Dame d'Obézine. The hotel is in a renovated historic house, which gives it a certain charm and character and made our stay pleasant. It's centrally located, yet the neighborhood is quiet enough for a good night's sleep.
