Rivage Hôtel & Spa Annecy

The hotel itself is lovely, and the rest of our stay was really nice. Our room was beautiful, with a balcony, and was cleaned well. The reception team and other staff did a good job. Breakfast was quite good, though the continental options are basic and could be improved. The wellness centre was the letdown. Apart from the fairly large pool, it's quite basic and often overbooked. Since the spa is also open to outsiders, it can get crowded and loud. The sauna and hammam are always too full, and even in the evening, when children aren't allowed, you can still find some there. It wasn't very relaxing, and that would keep me from coming back.

We had a great stay and thought the hotel was excellent value for the quality. Reception gave us a warm welcome, and everything went smoothly after that. The lakefront location is lovely, with a pleasant path along the shore and through gardens. It's an easy 20-minute stroll to the old town. Our room had plenty of space, big comfortable beds, a great bathroom, and a roomy balcony with a lovely view. It had everything we needed in Annecy. My wife tried the pool area, which was very good but busy. Maybe a mid-afternoon swim would have worked better than going in the early evening. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were good and priced similarly to places in town.

The pool is great, especially with clear guidance on busy hours and late opening for adults only. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and quiet enough, and the place feels worth its four stars for the price. Breakfast was disappointing, though. The buffet was basic rather than classy, didn't feel worth the cost, and didn't match the hotel's standard.

The staff were kind, and check-in and checkout went smoothly. We also got a room upgrade, which was a nice surprise. But the spa was crowded, with lots of kids running around, and our meals weren’t great. The bar served drinks quickly and had some interesting cocktails, though the food took a very long time. At the restaurant, portions were small and the menu didn’t explore much, and the kitchen seemed overwhelmed. For the hotel’s price and quality, we expected to be comfortable without problems. Instead, the heating or air in our room didn’t work, the shower wasn’t working properly, the bathroom needed a deep clean, and the beds were uncomfortable. It made for a disappointing mini getaway, especially at that price. I don’t think we’ll return.
