It's an easy place to use as a base, since you can walk to everything, and the area felt safe and quiet at night. We got clear instructions even though we never saw a host. The room is basic but has what you need, including a small kitchen for cooking. The bathroom is tiny, with a shower cabin. There were some real drawbacks. The walls are very thin, so you can hear everything, and noise from the two neighboring rooms made it hard to relax, especially with a family and two small children next door. The balcony door in our room wouldn't shut, which made us worry about leaving valuables there. At night, streetlights shine in, and there are no curtains on the window. Still, it's a decent place to sleep.

Herve, the proprietor, was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are simple, clean, and pleasant, with everything you need. With the location and price, it's hard to do better for value.

Old Annecy looks like something out of a fairy-tale picture book, and the lake views are stunning. The chateau owner was so kind and even printed documents from his computer for me after my phone was stolen. I lost a day dealing with the police and the documents I needed from my phone for my flight home. It happened while I was kneeling to pray in a Catholic church, when a beggar took the phone from my bag. Such a bad experience and a real inconvenience. The apartment was fine for two, with a kitchen, though the shower was a bit small. The accommodation and location were good, and it’s only a three-minute walk downhill to the Old Town. Coming back up the slope was tiring for me at 70. Keep your belongings close. The owner was lovely, and the views are well worth seeing.
