There’s a chicken coop in the garden, and the roosters start crowing early, so city people might get a surprise. The cottage itself is thoughtfully laid out, with a big dining table, a nearly new kitchen that has everything you need, and a comfortable living room. The two double bedrooms are at opposite ends, with one beside the children’s room. We also got a very warm welcome.

We loved how quiet it was, and the location is great for hiking. A little path from the house joins the GR, and there are lots of other trails to explore the nearby hamlets. Bibracte is 30 minutes away, Autun and Château-Chinon are 25 minutes, and Lac des Settons is 30 minutes away. The old house has kept its authentic feel, but the renovations make it very comfortable. It was clean and practical throughout. The bathroom is spacious, with a walk-in shower and a new washing machine. The kitchen has new cabinets, a new dishwasher, and a bright, airy veranda that’s lovely on rainy days, plus a charming covered utility room. The bed was comfortable, though we only used the front bedroom. Thanks to Cécile for the warm welcome and the eggs from the garden hens. The region is beautiful, and we’re delighted with our stay. We’ll be back as soon as we can.

Nice and peaceful cottage. The only drawback was the small television.
