Camping les Portes du Beaujolais

The pool area was a nice feature, with an indoor pool as well as the larger one outside. The campsite is conveniently close to the freeway and has spacious pitches. The toilets and showers were passable, nothing special. While we were there, many houses were rented to workers, whose vans drove through the campsite at high speed.

The staff were nice, and the accommodation and pool were good. But our mobile home was surrounded by a small swamp because the toilet and shower drains weren’t connected to the sewers. Otherwise, a decent campsite.

We picked this campsite because it was a convenient distance from Lyon, and spent one day there before heading into the city the next. After travelling around France and driving a lot, we stayed three nights. Anse is nearby, a small, cosy town, and the campsite is also close to the highway. There’s plenty for families here: heated indoor and outdoor pools, a jacuzzi, sauna, children’s playground, ping-pong, mini-golf and a little shop. The air felt fresh, and it was lovely to walk around in the evening. Our kids had a great time and came away with warm memories. The staff were friendly, polite and ready to help with whatever we asked. Speaking English was no problem. We left with only happy feelings and would gladly come back, maybe more than once. I’d recommend it :)

We moved on earlier than planned. The attractive pool didn’t open until 1000, and the kids around the site were having fun rather noisily. The site itself is large and well organised, and the staff accepted our online booking. We found a pleasant pitch near the clean, well-kept toilets and showers.
