Hôtel de L'Etoile

We nearly ended up without a room because Expedia had booked us for a year later by mistake. Luckily, the receptionist was really helpful and managed to find us a room for that night. It was clean and roomy, and the bed was very comfortable. We also got breakfast at a reasonable price.

We’re having a lovely time here, everything’s been fine. We’ve already booked for next year :D

The rooms are basic, but clean, and ours was surprisingly quiet for such a handy spot. Service was friendly and efficient, and the price is reasonable for this part of the world. We skipped the hotel breakfast, since the brasseries by the roundabout are great for coffee and breakfast. Antibes’ restaurants, beaches, and places to linger are all an easy stroll away.

We checked out the same day and found a lovely hotel down the road. This was easily the worst three-star hotel we’ve stayed in on our travels. We’d booked a superior twin, but the room we got felt more like a budget backpacker room and bore no resemblance to the online photos. The quality was poor, the bathroom floor and wood were rotting, and the towels were so thin they felt like rags. After a 24-hour trip from Australia, we had to scramble for another hotel at the last minute, losing money and holiday time. When we complained, staff said the pictures were “just photos,” while the manager emailed that the room had recently been renovated, which clearly wasn’t true. I’d strongly advise future travellers to be cautious. The listing is misleading and the hotel’s condition is unacceptable. If I could give zero stars, I would.
