A good choice for a big group, with comfortable rooms and a huge dining area. The food quality varied, but it was never dreadful and could be fantastic. The bar has a fire in the middle and a terrace with a great view. Carlsberg starts at about 6 EUR, with plenty of other drinks available too. It's almost ski-in/ski-out: a short walk around to the boot room, then roughly 25 metres farther to the slopes.

I’d come back. The staff were great, the food was really nice, and the hostel had friendly people, including some travelling alone. For the price, the whole setup is hard to fault, though having to clean your room and one lift being out of order were annoying. We booked four of us as a group, but got two twin rooms. Each had an en-suite with a two-head shower, sink, toilet and heated towel rail, plus two beds, a desk, built-in storage and a door onto a Juliette balcony with amazing views. We had to make the beds ourselves and strip them at checkout, then give the room a light clean. You could get extra toilet roll from a cupboard on each floor. Closing the door between the entrance and bathroom area helped keep noise from the other rooms down. Booking was simple. Groups could arrange it through a link, and English speakers could book through action outdoors. We booked our transfer too. The drive wasn't long, and it dropped us right by the hostel. On arrival, we left our things there a few hours before check-in at 18:00 and waited at the bar. The food was good overall. I only had one meal I'd call bad, and that was just because I didn't like it. Breakfast got repetitive, but it kept costs down and had bread, ham, cheese, sometimes sausages, scrambled eggs, fruit and cereal. Lunch and dinner changed, with a decent mix of carbs, protein, salad and vegetables, plus yoghurt and pudding. Tea and coffee were only available in the morning. The machine coffee wasn't great and the milk tasted a bit odd, though there were milk alternatives. You could use the bar's hot tap, otherwise drinks had to be bought. Bar snacks were limited, but there was a Sherpa in town. Meal queues got long when the hostel was full, but food was regularly topped up and there was plenty. The hostel bar was cheaper than most nearby bars, with lower prices for beer and wine. There was an indoor fire pit, plenty of seats, and outdoor seating and terraces. You could borrow games or bring your own. Table football and billiards cost extra; ping-pong and darts were free. Each night had entertainment, and the hosts made it fun whether you spoke English or French. There were music quizzes, karaoke, beer pong, team games and challenges. We picked up our skis and passes on arrival day, avoiding the huge queue the next morning. The ski room was about a minute's walk away, organised by floor so equipment was easy to find. Queues were massive on the first morning, so go early or later in the day. Staff helped refit my boots a couple of times and sort out changes for my friends, and returning everything was straightforward. Take photos of your ski and boot numbers. They have to stay in that room, not at the hostel. The hostel is centrally located in Flaine. You can ski or walk down to the lifts and explore nearby resorts too. Les carroz was our favourite, but leave plenty of time to get back. Lift lines were mostly reasonable, apart from the main gondola, as you'd expect. There are plenty of slope-side and town restaurants, but at this price we were happy eating at the hostel, where the food was good, and buying drinks or snacks out.

The half-time ski lessons with Logan (expert/confirme) were a real highlight. He set a great pace and balanced drills with fun. I loved the resort and had a brilliant week at Flaine UCPA. For me, this is one of the best UCPA centres. The rooms and food were brilliant.

Staff were really friendly and put a lot of effort into keeping everyone entertained. The bar was cheap, and the buffet meals had plenty of healthy choices. Breakfast was the most limited meal, but still had enough variety. The rooms were warm and practical, with a big window and a good rainfall shower. The radiators got hot enough to dry clothes and towels quickly. Great value for the price at ucpa flaine.

The evening entertainment was genuinely good fun, and the food was excellent. There was always plenty of meat, fish, vegetables and carbs for refuelling after skiing, with crispy baguettes too. The vegetarian choices often lacked protein, which was disappointing, but lentil and chickpea salads helped make up for it. This was my second UCPA trip, after UCPA Argentiere a couple of years ago, and I'd recommend it without hesitation. Everything was organised like a well-run machine. Collecting skis was easy, and the centre is right by the slopes. I took the off-piste course and loved both the skiing and our guide, Tom. My friends did the under-25 course and said it was very good as well. The Flaine region is extensive, with a great mix of runs and good snow on and off piste, even late in March. Our four-person dorm was simple and clean, with a bathroom and shower in the room. For the price, this is the best ski trip you could choose; booking independently can't match it for the same cost. I'll definitely return to UCPA.
