Lagrange Vacances Le Cristal de Piau

The location is fantastic, and having the pool was a real plus. Apart from the cleaning and the beds service, the stay went very well, which is why I’m giving it 4/5. We came back to Cristal de Piau after a great visit at the same time last year. This time, arrival was much less organized: last year we got our keys at 3 pm, but this year everyone had to wait until 4. It was a bit of a rush, though the wait moved quickly. The apartment wasn’t properly clean. We had to mop the floor ourselves, and the mop was dirty, so it didn’t seem to have been cleaned before we arrived. The drawers were dirty too, there was hair in the bathroom sink drain, and the microwave was dirty inside and out. The oven was so dirty we cleaned it before using it to avoid setting off the alarm. We’d paid around forty euros for made-up beds, but only two of the three were done. They said the sofa bed took up too much room when unfolded.

The ski slopes were a good part of the trip, but I won’t return to this hotel. We checked out at 10 AM, and an hour later realized we’d left a package worth €150 behind. That isn’t even its actual value, which makes this all the more infuriating. We’d had a coffee, then went back. Reception was empty, but after we knocked an employee came out, and I think she’d been sleeping there. She let me into the room to look. After she said she’d spoken with the cleaners, nobody seemed to know anything about the package. Only three people had been in the room, so someone must have taken it. They denied it to my face, and I feel they stole it right in front of me. They also came to the room at 9 AM and bothered us, even though checkout was at 10. When I asked for a complaint form, they didn’t have one.

The sheets were meant to be clean but had hair all over them. On departure day, staff came into the room without asking, regardless of what you might be doing. We left a bag there and were told it was fine, but when we returned an hour later nobody knew where it was. They wouldn’t let us make a complaint either. Be careful with this accommodation.

There’s barely any Wi-Fi, so this is probably best if you want a digital detox. The accommodation itself is new and spacious, with a pleasant, popular swimming pool. Its location is ideal, right by the slopes and in the heart of the Piau resort. For sunshine on the balcony during the day, choose a room facing the slopes.
