Charme Hôtel Montbéliard

The only awkward part was the shower: it has no tub or door, so water sprays across the bathroom. Otherwise, it was great. The rooms were clean and a good size, the staff were friendly, and breakfast had a decent selection. I was in France for business and found the hotel very nice.

I had a very good meal at the restaurant, though there was a cat wandering around in there. The hotel itself is peaceful, with nice, spacious rooms. I was frustrated that I couldn't use the pool because I'm 16 and the manager's rule says you have to be 18 or older. It feels like a kid-hating rule. Seriously, I'm a pro swimmer. I've swum the Rhine and Aare rivers and in the Ocean at the Great Barrier Reef. It's still a nice hotel.

The food and service in the restaurant were very good. I found a table well away from reception, so eating there was possible. The main building had a strange sewage-like smell, though. The rooms sit in round bungalows scattered around the main building, and it feels more like a motel, with the bedroom opening straight onto the street. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom looked clean.

The restaurant is really nice, with a 'menu de jour' for 15 euro that includes a starter, main course, and dessert. Breakfast was good too, though it was the standard three-star hotel sort and there wasn't much to choose from.
