The hotel has lovely gardens and museums, and entry to the salt museum 20 km away is free. The room has shampoo and soap, but no toothpaste, TV or WiFi. One thing to watch for: there's a metal rod on the highest stair step coming down from the beds.

A lovely family visit. Your daughter and son will enjoy it, and they serve all organic health food. I hope to return one day to see the people I met. Thanks for the great hospitality!

After a full day visiting the Saline, this was just right. The staff gave us a warm welcome, and the room was clean and really comfortable.

Breakfast is very generous, and staying right on the saltworks site was a great experience. You can wander around even outside public opening hours, and it's fascinating to visit, so allow 3 hours if you're curious. If you arrive late at night, it may not be obvious that you need to enter through the main gate beneath the majestic colonnade after calling the night watchman…

The site is breathtaking, from the gardens to the museums, and we'd love to return. We had the fantastic triple room with a mezzanine bed, absolutely perfect for a couple and one child. An excellent stay at the Royal Saltworks of Arc-et-Senans.
