The garden event turned out to be a small market with independent sellers on the grounds. We’d chosen it expecting to visit the Chateau, so that was a real disappointment.

Parking is good, but if you're serving alcohol, you'll need to plan guest transport back to Royan and the nearby villages carefully. The chateau has a lovely partly shaded lawn for a garden party, and it opens onto a beautiful, high old oak-trussed barn with plenty of space for a 150-person banquet and dancing. I don't know what the bedrooms are like.
