We spent five nights here in August 2016, and the place really charmed us. Its location worked well for reaching Cognac, Bordeaux chateaux, and the beaches. The owners know their products very well, and we enjoyed visiting the antique Shop. We also walked around the extensive grounds and had a pleasant run through some neighbouring farms. Our room was spacious and tastefully done, and we liked spending time in the library. Breakfast came hot and fresh, with excellent arabica coffee, homemade jams, and baked goods. We’ll recommend it to our friends in Canada for an authentic French experience.

A nice spot out in the country.

The garden of this charming manor house made an idyllic setting for our last-minute lunch at Domaine de la Menarderie. The meal was perfect, prepared with excellent homemade ingredients, and both the chef and owner were delightful. The welcome was warm, and the antique dealer owner's tasteful choices for the tables and decor added a lot. It felt simple and inviting, just what you need right now. We left very happy and highly recommend this unique place!

The owners have restored the building with real taste, and our overnight stay was very pleasant. We had a large room, excellent bedding, and a bathroom that had just been renovated. Breakfast was generous and delicious. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who appreciates unusual, exceptional places to stay.

The food was tasty and unpretentious, but, unless the setup has changed, soups, main courses, and sides are placed in the middle of the table for everyone to share. It felt like an old-fashioned family guesthouse. That's not what I look for in a restaurant: I prefer food that's a little more elaborate, presented nicely on individual plates. The price is similar to a classic restaurant, about €100 for two with drinks, so it's up to you. The restaurant is in the property's unusual former bakehouse, with good quality rustic tableware. The welcome was friendly and the service adequate.
