Le logis de Contie

This was our sixth visit to Régine's wonderful gîte, LA CONTIE, in four years. We brought another couple of friends this time, and they were just as amazed as everyone before by the beauty of the large building. It's tastefully decorated, with spacious rooms, everything well equipped, exceptionally clean, and very comfortable beds. The hamlet is peaceful, among walnut trees and lovely stone houses. If you enjoy walking and making the effort to find new places, this is a great base. The warm, sunny weather let us explore lots of spots: Roque Gageac, Beynac, Domme, the Château des Milandes, the Sarlat market, Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, and Terrasson, with its lovely views over the Vézère River and from the restaurant "La Mandragore" and its imaginary garden. For the first time we also went to Château Le Paluel in Saint-Vincent-le-Paluel, where the film "Le Tatoué" (The Tattoo) with Louis de Funès and Jean Gabin was shot. We returned to Jardin d'Eyrignac too, which we hadn't seen in 30 years, and revisited nearby places like Rocamadour and Collonges-la-Rouge. Yes, Régine, we'll come back to La Contie with more couples who'd love to see the Dordogne and your wonderful gîte, enjoy the peace and quiet of the hamlet, and meet you, such a welcoming, charming owner.
