Hôtel Bleu Azur

The hotel is in a calm spot, so nights are peaceful, though the town centre is still about a 15-minute walk away, with restaurants and busy market streets to explore. The owners are considerate, polite and helpful, and you can tell they care about good service. Rooms are fresh and clean, with useful AC on really hot days. Breakfast has plenty of freshly prepared sweet and savoury choices, and the homemade jam is delicious. The car park is easy to get into and secured at night. A real gem, and we hope to come back next year.

Our booking was cancelled less than 24 hours before we were due to arrive. We tried to book again within minutes, but the hotel was full. Apparently the staff member on the phone spoke no English. The customer service was awful, though luckily we found a much better hotel and could carry on with our children. If you're coming from the UK, I wouldn't book here: there's no guarantee they'll keep your room. It seemed they simply didn't want us, as they were overbooked and we'd booked for one night.

I already knew the dog rules and respected them. My three-month-old puppy is well trained, but a male staff member kept insisting I take him off the property to toilet, even after telling me on arrival. He followed me around the small grass area and pointed at his bottom in a rude gesture, as if mimicking a dog pooing. He told me to walk out with my two small children, aged 4 and 6, in 30-degree heat, and we had to leave the property altogether. It made us feel extremely unwelcome. Not pet friendly!

We had a really comfortable room with a balcony, and the breakfast was amazing. It's a very friendly, family-run hotel. We'll be back next summer and would recommend it to anyone.
