The staff and owner were genuinely nice, which is the only reason this gets two stars. The room itself was a miserable experience, and the Airbnb photos gave a very different impression. We were celebrating my parents' wedding anniversary, but left before the third night, even though we'd paid for it. They wouldn't refund that night after we explained the problems. I understand that may be fair, but a goodwill gesture would have felt appropriate for a room of this quality. There was almost nothing provided in the room. We had to ask for basics like a hairdryer, Wi-Fi, extra towels, cups, and toilet paper. It also cost more than much better options. The heat was hard to deal with. The room is under the roof, with no air-conditioning, and it stayed too hot to sleep until outside air finally came in through the windows around 11pm. We had to leave them open overnight to avoid sweating. Then, while people from the campsite played pétanque and drove noisily until 3am, sleep was still out of reach. With the windows open the following day, the room did cool down by evening, but kitchen heat and smells poured through the badly sealed entrance door. For a couple of hours it felt like a steak was cooking beside our beds. Tobacco smoke also drifted in through the door and window.

We had to postpone a Wonderbox stay because of a health problem, and the owner refused. She asked whether we'd read the terms, which say exchanges are only prohibited in cases other than death or hospitalization, and whether we'd bought cancellation insurance when we wanted to reschedule. I was disappointed by how she handled it. Those conditions should be made clear when booking, and I think they should review their Wonderbox terms. Wonderbox had already paid them for a service they didn't have to provide, so it felt like blatant theft, with all the profit going to them. I've since read other complaints from Wonderbox guests about meals, extra charges, rooms being re-let, and stays that couldn't be rescheduled. That makes me question their honesty. I'm not surprised she said she works with Wonderbox a lot.

The welcome was warm, the stay was lovely, and both dinner and breakfast were excellent. My one disappointment was having to pay an extra €30 to move the date three months ahead of time. Wi-Fi also wasn't free, even though Google's page said it was.

We used Wonderbox vouchers for a two-night bed and breakfast stay. The hosts were welcoming and very attentive, making sure we felt at ease. Meals came in a relaxed, family-style atmosphere, and the wood-fired pizzas were especially good. There are plenty of things on site too: a pool, pétanque court, laundry facilities, and a charger for electric vehicles. A lovely, peaceful place to stay.

Wednesday evenings bring themed events where you can discover traditional dances, and there are pétanque evenings too. The hosts are warm and friendly. It's a quiet corner of the Aveyron countryside, just right for switching off.
