The walk into town along the Creuse was great, with plenty of shops and cafés to browse. We stayed a few nights at this wonderful campsite. The sanitary block was clean, though the urinal right beside the hand-washing sink, with no divider, felt like a bit much, even though I’m fine with unisex facilities.

We got a good night’s sleep here, and the price seemed fair for the season. The campsite is right by the Creuse River, so we made time for a refreshing swim during our one-night stopover. Pitches were grassy, spacious, and well cared for, and the bathrooms were simple but clean. There was also a big gathering of friends, or so it seemed, dressed up to socialize and line dance in a very North American country style, right in the middle of France.

The birdsong was lovely, with the river close by and a cuckoo calling out good morning. It was quiet when we visited in May. The toilets and showers were clean, but bring your own toilet paper, soap, and hand towel. We’d happily come back at this time of year.

The warm showers were a real treat in February. The block was heated to 18.5°, and the water pressure was good, with a decent flow after pressing the button. There’s no temperature control, but it was just right for me. Arrival and check-in were easy, and the large, level pitches were clearly marked and easy to access. Some pitches, closed in winter, sit right beside the Creuse and have lovely views. A pleasant, well-kept site.

The owner was really helpful with people who got stuck on their pitches. I liked the riverside location, and we found the cycle track, though the town itself was a little underwhelming. It was very wet while we were there, which made keeping the toilets clean a struggle. A few more mats would help, and the old rubber brushes left outside to rot should be removed. Little things like that could make the place much better.
