Mas de la Vigne

A peaceful cottage that works well for families, at an attractive nightly price. It's beside the rice house, and you get to share in the life of the rice farm.

We stayed six days in the Chipot cottage in August 2025. The location is ideal and quiet for trips to Nîmes, Arles, and the beaches of St. Maries-de-la-Mer, but the cottage itself was a letdown. It was in poor repair and not clean when we arrived, so we had to clean it again before moving in, with no vacuum cleaner available. The website photos seem several years old. The shutters and mosquito nets were in bad shape, a sliding door wouldn't lock, and the dishwasher was really disgusting. The whole place needs a proper refresh, and the cleaning staff should be changed. There was lots of dog mess in the courtyard right outside the accommodation, with a strong smell in the hot weather. Air conditioning could be installed, or at least fans provided. These farmhouse cottages have a lot of potential, but it's a shame they're not better maintained.

We've booked here for our traditional Ascension weekend with friends for over 15 years, and we've never been this disappointed. Dogs are allowed but have to be on a leash because the owners' family has dogs and cats. The accommodation is old and poorly kept, with cobwebs all over. We spent our time trying to fix a leaking toilet, though I suppose, like with the other reviews, we'll be told we broke it ourselves. The dishes were mismatched and basic, with no bowls or soup plates. The cleaning was very cursory, despite being charged at the end of the stay. When we left, we had to load the cars while dodging the pets' droppings, and could easily have stepped in them. In short, avoid this place at all costs.

Le Loupiot was spacious and comfortable, and everything at the Mas was ready for us. We were even able to welcome other guests during our stay. Françoise and Jacques Roziere made us feel at home with their warm, kind welcome. We spent a long weekend in November in a cottage with ground and upper floors, looking out over rice fields and a meadow. In the mornings, my friend watched cranes fly by from the kitchen window, above a paddock with horses, a donkey, and cows. The sunsets were beautiful, and there were hardly any mosquitoes. We’ll definitely come back. Thanks again, and I highly recommend it!
