Mas des Rizières

We loved the peace and quiet here, and the mattresses and pillows were comfortable. The room was spacious and clean, with air conditioning, mosquito nets, exposed stonework, and a comfortable, roomy bathroom. The common spaces are pretty and quaint, and the pool was fantastic on hot days. It was handy to keep our drinks in the fridge near the breakfast room. The owners are a very kind family who welcomed us and gave us excellent tips during our five days there. Breakfast was excellent too. Like elsewhere in Southern France, it was almost all sweet food, but there was always great fresh bread with jams and other homemade things, plus cheese if you asked. I hope to return soon and highly recommend the place. And a big hello to Josephine the cat! You're surrounded by Camargue nature, but Arles is only 15 minutes away and Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is 30 minutes away. It was easy to find by typing the B&B name into Google Maps.

The rooms are clean and simply decorated, though we spent most of our time outside. The owner was very pleasant, and it's about 15 minutes from the center of Arles. The grounds are shady, the pool is great for a few laps, and the exposed stone gives this charming bed and breakfast a lot of character. Set among the rice fields, it feels authentic and offers a complete change of scenery. There's so much to see in the region. If you're coming to the Camargue for its wildlife and plants or Roman architecture, book a stay at Mas des Rizières.

The swimming pool was pleasant, but we found our July 2018 stay disappointing. We rented a cottage for four, and it was dirty and very basic, with too little crockery for four people. Some of the mosquito nets had holes, and the welcome wasn't good. We didn't get any information about the region.

Breakfast was a real treat: delicious bread baked by the owner, her distinctive homemade jams, fruit from the garden, yogurt, brioches, and more. There's a fridge-freezer for picnic food or meals to enjoy in the garden, and ice packs are available for your cooler. The location is also excellent for visiting Arles, Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, the Salin-de-Giraud salt marshes, the Rice Museum, and bull ranches. The photos don't do this beautiful place justice. We stayed in a roomy, tastefully decorated room with charming exposed stone walls. The air conditioning was welcome, though it stayed cool at night, and the windows had mosquito nets so we could sleep with them open. The bedding was excellent. Outside, the garden was magnificent and perfectly kept, and the large treated-concrete pool has a pond-like look that fits right in. It was wonderfully maintained, and reading on a sun lounger with that view was so relaxing. This place is nestled among rice fields and is incredibly peaceful.
