The koi pond caught my eye first, with the fish darting beneath the water lilies and the Pyrenees stretching across the horizon. The garden and pool are lovely too. We stayed in a tastefully renovated farmhouse with a warm, lively host, and breakfast was hearty. For dinner, the confit or cassoulet at the old inn in Bassoues, by its magnificent 16th-century market hall, is very reasonably priced. La Péniche on Lake Marciac has more elaborate dishes, though they cost a little more, and should suit anyone who enjoys fine food.

Le Hameau de Rozès was a real breath of fresh air for a midweek stay. The owner was incredibly kind and attentive, and we shared so much in such a short time. It’s a magnificent property. I’d happily recommend it and hope to come back soon. Thank you, Jacques!

So peaceful here, just right for meditation. The house has real charm, and Marciac and its festival are only a stone’s throw away.

We come back here for our annual get-together. The location is ideal, the welcome is really warm, and breakfast is very generous. Heated pool 😍
