Hostellerie de la Chaumière

Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. This family-run hotel made us feel very welcome, and we noticed the care that had gone into everything, from the furnishings to the fittings. The quality was clear throughout, with a lot of thought and effort behind the choices.

The village is lovely for walking and cycling, and the food has always been excellent. We’ve stayed several times and are welcomed warmly each time. We’ve been back often since I first wrote this, too. Service remains great and the rooms have been redecorated and look lovely. My one reservation is that the main-course choices seemed rather weighted away from the safer options. It’s still our No 1 stopover choice.

Traveling the Via Francigena, I’ve stayed in quite a few places, and this is one of the best, if not the best, so far. My room was clean, comfortable, and dry, with a good shower, and the restaurant was very good. Everyone was gracious and warm. The waitress at dinner was friendly and efficient, and the management were exceptionally thoughtful and helpful. They even let me rinse my bike with the hose.

The staff were as friendly and helpful as usual, and the kitchen was good. It’s a family-run hotel in a quiet setting, with updated rooms. But if you’re staying for a few days, the menu options feel too limited. Breakfast had far fewer products than last year, while costing more, 13 € per person.
