The location is fantastic, right by Col d’Izoard, and there are via ferrata routes nearby. We tried one and loved it. We chose this hotel for its alpine setting and the promise of a pool where we could unwind after a long drive, but the stay was odd. At check-in they asked about dinner. We said we'd decide later, then were told pool and spa access would cost €15 each if we didn't eat there, even though we were hotel guests and it had been advertised as included. So we chose dinner and went to the spa, which was dated and in poor condition. Some shower heads were missing and it smelled musty. We hadn't realized the hot tub needed to be reserved, so we couldn't use it. The sauna was in a cold basement and had to be switched on manually, which we didn't bother doing. The pool was cold, not freezing, but not the relaxing soak we'd hoped for. The bar was decent and had a great Scrabble table. Dinner was fine, though the restaurant was quite noisy. Our standard room for a couple was comfortable but odd, with an enormous table and a small kitchen tucked behind a shutter. The bed and linen were good, the room was dark, and we slept really well. This place needs a revamp. The location is wonderful, but the facilities don't meet expectations, especially for somewhere billed as a spa hotel.

We stopped here on the way to Col d’Izoard and had a great stay. The new owners provided good service, and we enjoyed the nice pool. The food was great, the beers tasted good, and prices were okay. The rooms could be updated, but they were fine for a short visit, and the beds were nice.

We loved our stay here. A travel agency specializing in winter walking trips booked us into the hotel, where our room had huge south-facing windows looking out at the mountains. We were lucky with the weather, and the afternoon sun streamed in. The staff were amazingly friendly, and the food was excellent. Breakfast was wonderful, with high-quality butter you could taste the difference in, bread, and fresh eggs. Dinner was three courses each time, imaginative, delicious, and relatively healthy. If you were walking around with an empty thermos, someone would whisk it away and fill it with hot water before you could say “Excuse me!” 😀 There's a ski lift next door, and the hotel is on the skibus route that can take you another 2 km up the valley.

We spent four nights here and headed out for hikes in the surrounding mountains each day. The location was superb in every respect, and the rooms were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, and the dinners certainly deserved their four stars. Service was consistently attentive and friendly. We always ordered the “plat du jour”, which changed wonderfully from day to day and was very reasonably priced compared with lower-quality restaurants in the area. We'd eagerly return to enjoy what Arnaud and his wonderful team do.
