Château de Saint Gervais

We had plenty of room for our vintage cars. The castle has real charm, with a privileged setting that’s peaceful and offers panoramic views. I recommend the cottage for its location, our contact with the owners, and the caretaker, who was always available.

The setting is very quiet, with plenty of rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, plus a tennis court and two bocce courts. It’s a great place for big private parties. I took off two points for the poor soundproofing and awful internet. We got 6 Mbps in the main building and 0.5 Mbps in the annex, where it didn’t work at all about half the time. We could only reach the on-site contact by email. We also had to go a day without gas in the kitchen while waiting for the caretaker to connect a new bottle.

We had an exceptional, relaxing weekend at the castle for my 40th birthday on September 21st, with friends and their children, 23 people in all. There was plenty of space to unwind, with several sitting rooms, a huge kitchen area, and lots of rooms. Every room had a shower or bathtub, and the place was clean. There was loads to do inside, including ping-pong, foosball, billiards, a piano, and a games room for the little ones. Outside, we had tennis and pétanque, with equipment provided. They also supplied three baby beds, and linens were available as an option. For food, we brought some from home and also went to the village restaurants and bakeries, a five-minute drive away, or 5 km. My friends and I had a truly exceptional weekend, and it felt good to have such a relaxing break.

We were delighted with our stay at the château and the gîte. The hosts were very pleasant, and the caretaker was a great help. The grounds were lovely, with nice walks around the estate.
